Ever since I was young, computers never ceased to amaze me. Being able to create solutions to a wide variety of problems captured my interest early on. Like my dad for example, one of the computer programs he made allowed cameras on remote controlled helicopters to scan the ocean for mines to help our soldiers reach enemy territory safely. Such possibilities inspired me to enter the field and to use my own imagination and creativity to solve new problems. One of my favorite programs I created with the help of my team could turn easily remembered words, like “dog”, into impossible to crack passwords. This program actually won the award for “Most Practical Program” at a Hackathon event in 2018, and is also the base structure for our Capstone Project. Now I look forward to utilizing this interest in computers and technology to help solve some of the problems facing the world today.
However, like any great inventor, you have to start somewhere. By doing this Capstone Project, I will be further expanding my knowledge in computer programming. The internet is a large place that won’t be going anywhere for a long time, so I hope to learn how to make a functional registration and login system since it will be crucial in making any sort of future online based program. I chose to make this program because it is necessary to have safe passwords, and not everyone can remember all of their passwords for every place they go to. So, by making an account based login system that brings me to ESPR where I can create secure passwords with simple words, I won't have a problem remembering my passwords in the future. I know this will be a difficult process, especially since I haven't used HTML and JavaScript since 9th grade, but I know that after working on this project I will know a whole lot more than what I did before, and maybe learn some other new things.
My future goal is to understand how to use Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and newer technologies to help create a more prosperous future for everyone. Using technology to help struggling cultures and individuals is where I want to focus the skills I develop. I believe that this Capstone Project will kick-start these future goals and also put me ahead of the game for when I begin my journey in college.
